John Barrett - Director of Athletics & Head CoachJohn Barrett has been a coach for Life University basketball since the college began its athletics program in the fall of 1991. This is Barrett’'s fourth year as Director of Athletics, fifth year as Head Coach for the men’'s basketball team and fourteenth season coaching at Life. Barrett’'s history with Life includes three NAIA National Championships and winning a regional or conference title every year from 1991-1998. Originally from Atlanta, Barrett helped develop the successful Running Eagles defensive philosophy of pressing full court and forcing an up-tempo game. The aggressive style takes full advantage of the Running Eagles team quickness and athletic abilities. After leaving the high school ranks he helped develop the first basketball team at rival Kennesaw State University. While at Kennesaw he also coached the baseball team. In addition to coaching, Barrett has spent time consulting and scouting for several NCAA Division I basketball teams. Coach Barrett graduated from Oglethorpe University where he was a member of both the basketball and baseball teams. Barrett and his wife Anna have been married for eight years. Coach Barrett has two grown sons, Philip and Matthew.
