Head Coach - 1st Season

Anthony Byrne enters his first season as head coach after serving as a volunteer assistant since November of 2015.

Byrne spent the 2015 season as a volunteer assistant with Georgia Tech. Prior to joining Tech, Byrne was the associate head coach of the Marietta Marlins from 2011-2012, where he oversaw all aspects of the program. Before that, he spent four years as the head swimming coach and associate aquatics director for Twin Rivers YMCA in New Bern, N.C. With TRY, Byrne guide the USS swim teams and oversaw all program development and supervised all paid and volunteer staff.

Before joining TRY, Byrne spent two years as the volunteer distance coach with the Marietta Marlins. From 2002-2006, he worked as the volunteer head coach of the Somerset Sharks and coach 130 swimmers. In his time with the Sharks, Byrne led them to five straight undefeated years in the summer league.

As swimmer, Byrne was a three-time Australian National Champion, a two-time Sportsman of the Year and competed for four years at Southern Illinois University.
