The Life University Women's Cross Country team finished fourth in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Cross Country Championship this past Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Senior Cora Atkinson led the pack for the Running Eagles team with a 12th place overall finish, fightiing hard to the end for a time of 19:48
"One goal this season was to run as a pack," noted Head Coach Dr. Cathy Foust. "I think we achieved that one, as our next four runners finished 21st, 23rd, 24th, and 25th overall."
Freshman Nylah Brown (20:22) and junior Alexandria Moton (20:50) finished their seasons strong and were big contributors with the absence of Life U's No. 2 runner for the season Elizabeth Skipper out for the race. Freshman Tatiana Gonzalez and junior Angerika Colbert finished out as the team's fourth and fifth place runners.
Victoria Favela-Parra capped off her collegiate cross country career with a time of 21:54 (41st place overall). Hanne Polden was Life U's 7th place runner and represented well in her final collegiate race also.
Also of note was Atkinson making the MSC All-Conference 2nd team, as well as being named a champion of character and Academic All-Conference. Skipper, Polden and Marialejandra Julia also were named Academic All-Conference.
"I am so very proud of these outstanding young ladies and am honored to be their coach," exclaimed Dr. Foust after the season-ending meet.
