Life Rugby RSL Beats Charlotte
Marietta 3/29/10 - Life University's Rugby Super League team beat Charlotte 46-13 this weekend at the Charlotte RFC. The team played strong rugby in the first half. At points there were strings of 6 and 7 phases of rugby, maintained possession and the patience was capped off with a try. It was a very entertaining game of rugby for the Life fans that were in attendance.
The defense was strong again, minus two lapses in the second half that resulted in tries for the home team. All in all it was a step forward for the Life University squad. The win pushed their record to 2-0 in league play and the loss dropped Charlotte to 1-1.
Fly Half Aaron "AZA" McMaster led all scorers with 2 tries, a penalty and 4 conversions for a total of 21 points. Tries were also added by Joe Perez, Phil Thiel, Scott Lawrence , Nathan Rogers and Garry Sullivan for a balanced Life attack.

Life Rugby (UG) Beats Army 27-22
03/20/10 - In a fiercely contested match up between Life University and Army, Life was able to squeeze out a 27-22 victory with a last minute try by sophomore, Paul Bester. With 10 minutes remaining Army went ahead 22-20 with a strong succession of phase play rugby that resulted in a converted try from their tight head prop. With time winding down Life was able to secure a line out 15 meters from their opponents line. Taking the ball straight from the halfback, Life center Colton Cariaga was able to get a strong penetrating run. Bester picked from the base and drove his way into the try zone for the winning score.
We have to thank Army for a great match. There are a lot of us that have been waiting for the opportunity to begin to play as a college side week in, week out. To be able to compete against a team of their caliber is phenomenal and we had a blast, said Life University captain Benny Mateialona. Right now were all exhausted, to be honest. Im sure well find areas where we could have performed better this week. Actually, Im positive our coaches will find areas where we can perform better. But right now, gutting out a tough win at the end of the game like that is what were going to enjoy.

Life Falls To Robert Morris
Kansas City, Mo. - Life fell short in the first round to no. #15 seed Robert Morris University at the 2010 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Mens Basketball National Championship Thursday at Municipal Auditorium.
Robert Morris University opened the game with a 10-0 run, while Life's Bryan Dunn picked up his second foul and forced to sit the remaining 15 minutes of the half. With Dunn out of the game, junior center Roy Beard was able to take control of the paint, and his physical play led to five points with five rebounds for the half, and allowed senior guard Billy Rush to drain four wide open 3-point baskets.
Robert Morris shot 51 percent from the field in the first half while Life hit only 31 percent of their shots. However, Life was able to keep the game close because of their tough defense. The Running Eagles played a tough physical game in the second half closing the score to 63-59 with 10:17 left in the game, but the Eagles went on a 26-13 and in the end Robert Morris was too much. Life suffered the loss, 90-72.
For Life, senior forward Ken Moore finished with 20 points and five rebounds, and senior guard Tay Barber adder 18 points with six rebounds, and four assists. Robert Morris was led by Billy Rush who ended the game with 19 points, 13 rebounds and four assists with senior guard Yamani Ball adding 18 points, five assists, and 2 rebounds. Senior guard Robert Jones, who had a blocked shot end up in the 3rd row in the first half, contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Roy Beard also added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Robert Morris will face the winner of the William Jewel (Mo.) versus No. 2 seed Concordia (Calif) at 8:00 p.m. CT on Friday.
NOTES: Life's Tay Barber scored 18 points and has scored in double-digits in 29 of 30 games this season. Life entered the game with the most steals in Division I (384) and they added to that total with 11 against Robert Morris.
